Meeting on Traffic Decongestion at Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar on 28.06.2019 – A CSR Activity of IGFP
Points discussed / Recommended
Detail survey (at least for seven days continuously in two shifts, i.e., 8 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 10 pm) shall be conducted to determine the status of vehicles (Four, three & two wheelers); i.ein flow &outflow through all 12 entry points, vehicles parked on internal roads as well as on the side of main road. Survey shall also determine the status of vehicles possessed by the inhabitants of Bapujinagar vis-à-vis availability of parking space wit in their land. Night survey shall be helpful to quantify the vehicles of the local residents that are being parked on roads.

After detail survey, Parking Space requirement shall be calculated for all such vehicles plus the expected rise of vehicle traffic till 2025 by R&B. From given facts, requirements of parking space are 38000 sq. ft. whereas now space available is 36000 sq. ft.

Availability of land for proposed parking space shall be ascertained. BMC has ear-marked 37,000 sqft space for parking of vehicles on payment basis. Action – BDA / Town Planning Dept
Vehicle passes shall be issued to the permanent residents based on parking space available within their premises. Action – BMC / DCP Traffic / Resident Traders Association of Bapujinagar
Heavy vehicles shall be prohibited entry inside Bapuji Nagar between 6 am to 10 pm. Action – DCP Traffic / Resident Traders Association of Bapujinagar
Out of 12 entry points, six points shall be exclusively meant for entry whereas rest six points shall be reserved for exit Action – DCP Traffic
Model Plan shall be prepared indicating there in the length and width of all internal roads, parking spaces etc. Such plans shall be displayed at all entry and exit points (Action BMC/BDA/R&B)
A coordination meeting shall be convened between all stakeholders before finalization of the model plan Action – Smart Citizen Forum & IGFP.
Required traffic personnel shall monitor traffic for hassle free movement of vehicles inside the internal roads Action – DCP Traffic and Resident Traders Association of Bapujinagar
First Advisory Board Meeting of IGFP on 7th June 2019 at Focal Point office, Bhubaneswar.
Minutes of the Advisory Board of Indo-German Focal Point (IGFP) held on 07.06.2019 at Bhubaneswar.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Panchanan Kanongo and attended by following other members:
1. Mr. A.K Satpathy
2. Dr. Ashok Sahu
3. Dr. M.K Pradhan
Dr. B.N Som, member, could not attend the meeting due to some unavoidable reasons. Copies of his message was circulated and taken as read. 12 other invitees, who are supporters of IGFP also attended the meeting.
At the outset Mr. B.K Sahu, Director, IGFP made a presentation on review of IGFP activates of 2017 and 2018 and its planned activates for 2019. Subsequently he also deliberated on establishment of Vision Zero India Mission (VZIM) at Bhubaneswar with upgraded role of IGFP, protecting interest of workers involving OSH in the context of recent devastating cyclone “FANI” in Odisha and utilization of registered construction workers under the Construction Board in post cyclone activities.
Following important points were made in the meeting.
1. Efforts should be made to reach the workers in OSH matter.
2. OSH issues relating to agricultural and unorganized sector workers are important.
3. Special Meeting may be convened of trade union leaders on OSH issues.
4. Awareness program should address matters relating to monitoring, implementation and safety instruments.
5. Inadequacy of Safety Officers requires to be addressed to overcome implementation deficiencies.
The Members were requested to give their suggestions on the Concept Note on VZIM. The fifth issue of IGFP Newsletter was released
The Meeting ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Sahu, who also urged to make the launch of Prevention Forum India Workshop at Bhubaneswar on 29th July, 2019 a success.

IGFP Activities Review Meeting at Cologne, Germany on 29th & 30th April 2019
The Significant Discussed Points during the meeting are as follows:
1. Chattisgarh symposium- will wait till 23rd May for response from Labour secretary before approaching Bangalore venue,
2. Gujarat symposium- Draft program finalized for speakers from DGUV/ISSA with SAVE 2019 Winning Video will, be played at inaugural session, Knowledge sharing Mountain proposal to be discussed with labour secretary at Ahmadabad
3. Kolkata symposium- Prof. Noetel and Mr. Sahu will visit Kolkata for discussion
4. Proposed Centre for OSH- important decision and hence extremely careful in preparing a draft by Mr. Sahu to be vetted by Prof. Noetel and again the said draft to be re-examined at IGFP with Advisors so that, it receives positive response from Labour secretary of all states to whom this will be sent
5.IGFP Activities as presented is in principle approved
6.Financial Support for IGFP- will be taken, call by Prof Noetel to get Spotter, Felten, DGUV etc for additional support from July 2019 & also IGFP to take training program etc for generation of internal fund
7.Safety Museum- Dr. Timm to send details and link etc for sending to labour secretary Rajasthan and Mr. Sahu to send details about the state proposal
8.IGFP Vision Zero Brochure was released on the occasion,
9.IGFP while printing will take care of dimensions etc of pictures postures
