IGFP Contribution to Smart Safe Drivers Award 2025 Hosted by CDRM (Centre for Driver Relationship Management)
Honourable members of the Jury,
Greetings from the Centre For Driver Relationship Management (CDRM).
As you know, the institution of the SMART DRIVER AWARDS-2 (SDA-2) is to recognise and reward smartness among truck drivers.
The idea germinated originally because truck drivers that society does not respect them. Our 15 years of exposure to the trucking community highlighted that truck drivers are also partly responsible for such societal behaviour.
Their poor dressing sense is a concern. So, why not make them aware of their shortcomings from this angle? During our interactions with them, we have been coining the slogan “Achcha Dikne Mein Bura Kya Hai” for over a decade.
The SDA-2 is the culmination of that desire.
During the sponsors – Mahindra Logistics and Netradyne, we decided to add on a few more parameters to assess “smartness.”
These parameters include:
- Appearance (weightage 30%)
- Road safety (20%)
- Fuel efficiency (20%)
- Technology friendliness (GPS, ADAS/DMS) (20%)
- Communication (internal & external) (10%)
Members, the nominations closed on December 25, 2024.
We received 393 nominations from 29 companies. It was decided we would accept nominations from fleet-owning companies, not from drivers directly.
A multi-tier filtering resulted in 26 drivers across India.
Then, these 26 shortlisted nominees were vetted by a nine-member Zonal Juries (North, West and East-South). Since the entries from East and South were low, we combined these zones into one for operational purposes.
The Zonal Jury further trimmed this to 10 nominees: three for the first three categories and one solitary female truck driver (3+3+3+1 m = 10 m10).
Based on the Zonal Jury ratings, we have created a short note on each Top Ten Finalist for you to assess them. (SEE ATTACHMENT)
The original idea of arranging a face-to-face interaction between these Top Ten nominees and the National Jury members was abandoned due to operational challenges.
Drivers and companies were unwilling to arrange such an interaction, citing supply chain disruption.
On the drivers’ part, they have already gone through video interaction with zonal jury members.
Even that took a toll on Juries reaching out while drivers were on the roads. However, we completed that task.
Subsequently, I spoke to each of these Top Ten to get a glimpse of their personalities.
So, you are offered the Jury members’ ratings and information and my input.
The schedule for the National Jury:
15-20 January – Jury assessment of the notes submitted on the Top Ten and PICK one winner in each category.
KINDLY forward your PICKS to ramesh@cdrm.in. Please do not share it with other members or put it in the WA group.
After collecting the WINNERS from all National Jury members, we will put the results in the WA group on 21 January.
If the juries are not unanimous on the winners in each category, the jury members will be asked to meet via videoconferencing at a mutually convenient time on January 21 or 22 to finalize the winners.
Once this is over, each National Jury member may be asked to record a video message about the entire SMART DRIVER AWARDS program, which aims to recognize and reward truck drivers—an unprecedented initiative.
The results will be announced on January 26, 2025.
For any clarifications, kindly reach me at9711544181.
Seeking your valuable cooperation.
Regards
